According to Taiwan's Economic Daily News, Taiwanese Foxconn recently announced that it will inject an extra investment of up to US$1.5 billion into its existing SEZ (Special Economic Zone) at Sriperumbudur in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. With its first-phase facility scheduled to enter volume production in August this year, Foxconn's Sriperumbudur SEZ will manufacture mobile phone key components initially, catering to the needs of its major clients such as Nokia and Motorola. Ultimately, the SEZ is projected to expand to over 160 hectares and include PC and mobile phone assembly within its operations.
